When it comes to our homes, we all do things our own way. Some of us may prefer cooking simple meals or freezing complete meals in advance, while others may prepare five courses every single night. Some of us may dedicate one day a week to doing laundry, while others of us may struggle to keep the laundry volume down by doing a load each day. The same can be said when it comes to home cleaning. We each have our own personality and way of doing things.
So what kind of personality do you have?
Take the Quiz: Your Home Cleaning Personality
Want to know what type of cleaning personality you have? Answer this question as honestly as possible.
Your mother-in-law calls and tells you she’ll be over in an hour. What do you do?
a. Look around the house in satisfaction. Your dishes are done, the laundry is nowhere to be seen, and there’s no signs of mess, clutter, or grime. You whip up a fresh batch of cookies so the entire house will smell wonderful.
b. You move the dishes from the sink to the dishwasher, wipe the crumbs off the counters, spruce up the guest bathroom, and then spend the rest of the time looking for that fruit dish she got you for Christmas that you know she’ll ask about.
c. A feeling of panic sweeps over you as you look around your house. You crazily run from one end to the other, picking up dirty socks, doing dishes, and scrubbing that odd stain off the kitchen floor. By the time your mother-in-law knocks on the door, you’re sweating, but the entire house is reasonably presentable.
If you picked A, you’re a Domestic Diva. You’ve got home cleaning down to a science, and you’re never afraid of those unexpected visits.
Did you pick B? If so, you’re the Faker. Yes, your home may look nice- at least as much as your guests are allowed to see, but you put minimal effort into keeping it that way.
If you picked C, you’re a mix of the It can Wait and the Speed Cleaner personality. You like to put off all that work for as long as possible, but when it comes down to crunch time, your cleaning skills could be an Olympic sport.
Other Types of Cleaning Personalities
If the question above just didn’t match your home cleaning personality, consider some other kinds that may fit you.
- Clean it When you see it- Do you have trouble letting that dab of tomato sauce sit on the stovetop once it’s splashed out of the pan? Does allowing even one dirty cup to sit in the sink drive you crazy? You most likely have a clean it when you see it personality that keeps you constantly busy. The best part is, you’re home is just as immaculate as the Domestic Diva.
- Half-Baked- Are there certain chores that you love and certain ones you hate? You might be vigilant about getting the laundry done, for instance, but when it comes to vacuuming, you might ‘forget’ to do it for a week… or two.
- Particular Day- As mentioned at the beginning of this post, some individuals are very particular about the actual day they clean and do laundry. They may designate one day each week to accomplish all of their chores, and the rest of the week those messes just pile up and lie in wait.
